1975 BMW R90S

New project, purchased as pictured below, 10/15/05:

10/18/05: Got the bike disassembled:

Getting the bikes dissasembeled was easy, getting it back together is going to take a while.

2/17/07: More than a year later, everything is powder coated:

10/11/07: An update, actually started to put the bike back together! The transmission needs to be re-sealed, which is going to be the biggest hang-up right now:

For the engine, the pistons got new rings, damaged fins on the heads were repaired as well as installed new exhaust valves/guides and minor port and polish, clutch components replaced, new rear main seal and oil pump o-ring installed.

The pictures below show before and after soda blasting various parts. Checked the fork tubes on v-blocks and were in tighter tolerance than what you would likely get new from forks by frank, this was a surprise considering how messed up the rest of the bike has been. Forks were rebuilt. Went with BMW heavy-duty springs.

Wheels were disassembled, hubs soda blasted, new bearings & set preload, new SS spokes and Akront 18"x2.5" rims for front and rear (this is not going to be a stock R90S):

Starter cover and air box cover prior to soda blasting:

Starter cover and air box after soda blasting and the completed front wheel pictured below. New bearings & seals in the swing-arm. The drive shaft that came in the bike was toast so that was replaced with a used drive shaft. The final drive was also shot. It was cheaper to buy a good used final drive than re-new the original:
