The swing arm & rear end had some light surface rust on it from battery acid. I sanded all of the rust off and as much of the original paint as possible, & primed and painted the rear end.
I left the rear disc brake in place, I felt it was not obstructing enough in order to justify removing the brake system. If I did it again, I would take the time to remove the swing arm and brake system.
Rear end back together. I fitted a 32:10 drum brake final drive to the disk brake model. It was necessary to hacksaw off the lip that stops brake shoe dust in order to get the the snowflake wheel designed for the disk brake to fit in the final drive.
The original Boge shocks have now been replaced with Koni's.
Something had built a nest in the airbox. Here is what I pulled out:
Changed fork boots, new heavy duty BMW Springs and added CC Products fork brace (I ended up going with the stock fork brace in the end):
I had the fork ears, triple clamp & handle bar risers powder coated. Though it is not really visible with the S-Fairing, I wish I had the headlight bucket and 'shackles' powder coated also:
Picture before mounting the S-Fairing & Front Fender:
S-Fairing on, no front fender. Kind of a cool look:
